sound in virtual realityIt's not just about frame-rate and resolution. Music is playing an increasingly important role in virtual reality and augmented reality development. A company called Tribe VR, which makes products (experiences, in the VR nomenclature) teaching people real-world skills in VR & AR environments, just launched a DJ school for Oculus Rift. To create its DJ school, Tribe teamed up with DJ Kryoman and Pyramid, a San Francisco-based music school. Lessons include beat matching basics, mixing techniques, and DJ masterclasses. Techniques are taught by virtual DJ mentors. It's easy to think of virtual reality as a visual experience, but a growing number of developers are capitalizing on the immersive environments of VR to bring users interactive experiences built around music. Oculus users can experience live performances in interactive venues via an app called Noys VR. Rift and Gear VR users can participate in a psychedelic interactive music video for electronic duo Night Club's single Show It 2 Me...Lots more posted on OUR FORUM.
